In 2020 MOBIUS was awarded a grant to support the first phase of a digitization implementation project using Vital by Innovative interfaces. The grant has received funding for a third year and those funds will be used to support the migration from Vital to Hyku for Consortia. Hyku for Consortia is an open-source, multi-tenant repository solution that is scalable and designed for the needs of consortia. The MOBIUS Hyku instance is expected to go live in the Summer of 2024. The MOBIUS Digital Imaging Grant is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provision of the Library Services and Technology Act as Administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.

Hyku delivers ultra low-cost hosting, discovery, and access to digital materials to libraries.

Libraries moving to Hyku include A.T. Still University, Columbia College, Covenant Theological Seminary, Crowder College, East Central College, Kenrick Glennon Seminary, Midwestern Baptist Seminary, Missouri Baptist University, Missouri Southern State University, Missouri Valley College, Northwest Missouri State University, Southwest Baptist University, St. Louis Community College, Truman State University, Webster University, William Jewell College.

The current Vital Access Portal allows users to search for and access digital objects such as full-text documents, videos, and images. The Vital portal offers two modes, one for staff administration and one for public access. The public access portal is available to all users without logging into the system. The features of the public access portal include searching, browsing, retrieving, and viewing digital objects. The administrative portal allows for customization of the interface, working with metadata, contributing new items to the repository, creating communities and collections, and preparing reports and statistics.
