Job Summary

Inman E. Page Library at Lincoln University seeks an innovative thinker with strong people skills to join our team as Electronic Resources Librarian. Reporting to the Director of Library Services, this position oversees the lifecycle of all electronic resources and participates in licensing, acquisitions, access, administration, statistics, and support. This position further oversees the Institutional Repository (IR), Blue Tiger Commons.

The Electronic Resources librarian will implement and administer tools, features, and programs that enhance and improve electronic resource access and usability including the utilization of electronic resource management functions in Sierra, the consortium-managed library services platform.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master of Library or Information Science degree from an ALA-accredited institution
  • One year experience working in an academic library in electronic resource management, including experience with other ER-related applications such as link resolvers and proxy server configuration
  • Familiarity with best practices in digital projects and digital preservation
  • Ability to work with digital objects in various formats (text, image, audio, video) publishing and data management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a flexible and adaptable attitude as well as a strong focus on customer service
  • Ability to work with vendors, campus IT, faculty, staff, and students to troubleshoot and resolve electronic resource access issues
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with current copyright issues/rights management issues in a digital environment
  • Demonstrated experience with ERMS (Electronic Resource Management Systems)
  • Knowledge of metadata and bibliographic principles
  • Experience creating and enhancing metadata for electronic resources
  • Demonstrated experience with data analysis and data visualization
  • Experience with Sierra (preferred) LMS
  • Experience working with an institutional repository platform/software (Bepress preferred)
  • Outreach experience and knowledge of marketing techniques
  • Experience managing technical support in areas relating to electronic resources
  • Experience using visualization software such as Springshare to create dashboards for ER use
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of individuals

Responsibilities:

  • Create, organize, promote, and curate digital materials
  • Provide training for the campus community to use ER and IR resources
  • Promote the IR to faculty, administrators, staff, students, and broader LU community
  • Support Open Access initiatives, intellectual property, data curation, and new forms of publications and research/creative activities.
  • Serve as Site Coordinator for the MOBIUS library consortium.
  • Perform reference service, library instruction, and collection development
  • Serve as library liaison to designated departments
  • Develop and maintain the library website and LibGuide pages to support subject areas
  • Perform instruction in the Library Science Minor program
  • Fulfill requirements of faculty status in areas of contributions to librarianship, scholarly activities, and service
  • Other duties as assigned
