Job Summary

Kenrick-Glennon Seminary Library seeks an enthusiastic and mission oriented individual to serve as the Electronic Resources Librarian.

The Electronic Resources Librarian is a 12 month position reporting to the Director of the Library. The position is responsible for the management of electronic resources and best practices. The Electronic Resources Librarian has primary responsibility for maintaining access to the library’s online databases, discovery layer, knowledge bases, and electronic services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages all electronic resource subscription lifecycle processes for the library.
  • Manages the renewal process to ensure that subscriptions are renewed prior to expiration.
  • Maintains timely and accurate metadata about the library’s electronic resources in a variety of systems such as the ILS and OCLC Connexion.
  • With the Director of IT, coordinates and performs access related problem resolution.
  • Maintains and updates the library’s web pages.
  • Establishes and manages professional relationships with colleagues, consortia, publishers and patrons.
  • Generates statistics and reports, including usage and cost analysis, to support collection analysis and development decisions in collaboration with the Library Director.
  • Compiles and analyzes data as needed for assessment and other standardized reports.
  • Manages new database trial and evaluation process.
  • Identifies and manages next generation of discovery tools.
  • Maintains awareness and engagements of trends and developments in e-resource acquisitions and management.
  • Provides inter-library loan materials
  • Provides training to faculty and students related to the library’s electronic resources.
  • With the Director and other staff, performs reference services for faculty and staff.
  • With the Director and Technical Assistant, assists in cataloging library materials according to the Dewey Decimal Classification scheme using WorldCat and OCLC Connexion.

Minumum Qualifications

MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited institution;
One to three years of experience managing electronic resources in an academic library;
Experience with integrated library systems;
Commitment to Catholic seminary formation.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting Sierra library management system and discovery systems;
Second subject master’s degree in theology;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office;
Knowledge of cataloging standards and tools such as MARC 21, AACR2/RDA, FRBR;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Excellent analytic and problem solving skills with attention to detail;
Commitment to a service orientation and working collegiality with other library staff;
Ability to work independently and collaboratively and to be flexible in a rapidly changing service oriented environment.
